Fun 2019 St Patrick’s Day Events in Kansas City

The great thing about St. Patrick’s Day is you don’t have to be Irish to join in on the fun! (Though green attire is expected.) To help you get into the celebratory spirit, here are some of the best Kansas City events for Saint Paddy’s Day. Just be sure you’ve got a designated driver at the ready.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans Parade

When: Sunday, March 17 (11 a.m.)

Where: The Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at Linwood and Broadway, and marches south on Broadway to 43rd Street.

Cost: Free!

What’s Happening: Grand Marshall Eric Stonestreet, a star of Modern Family, will lead the festive, nationally recognized Saint Patty’s Day parade. Outdoor beer gardens and sidewalk cafes will be set up along and near the parade route and will feature food, green and non-green drinks, and live Irish-themed entertainment and music.

Hyundai Wins Two 2019 NAIAS Awards

This year, Hyundai managed an incredible feat at the Detroit Auto Show, scoring two of three awards for best car and SUV in America. In the 25 years that the NAIAS has been happening, a single manufacturer winning more than one yearly award has only been accomplished 5 times. The South Korean auto manufacturer deserves some major kudos for this achievement.

But what vehicles won, you ask? The Hyundai Genesis G70 beat out the Honda Insight and the Volvo S60/V60 to become the Best Car in America. The Hyundai Kona and Kona EV swept away the competition for Best Utility Vehicle in America, beating out both Jaguar’s I-Pace and Acura’s RDX.
